The car that crossed the Sahara. Built by one of our members.
The Audi RS Q e-tron is the factory Dakar Rally car, an EV hybrid that ran at the 2022 Dakar and kept running. One of our Brick Club members built the Technic model (42160) and sent photos. 914 pieces, an afternoon build, all the interesting functions packed in: working all-wheel drive with front and rear axles connected, moving pistons in the electric motor housing, and opening doors.
The Dakar livery is immediately recognisable. White and red, RS Q e-tron logos, the high-clearance wide-track stance of the real car. This is the kind of build where the real-world backstory adds a lot.

The RS Q e-tron crossed the Sahara on an endurance hybrid powertrain in Audi’s factory rally programme. The Technic model captures the high-clearance, wide-track stance of the real car. At 914 pieces it is a compact build, but the engineering functions are all there. A good one for an afternoon when you want something a bit different to the usual supercar builds.

This is exactly why I like putting member builds on the blog. The official images tell you what a kit is supposed to look like. Member photos show what it feels like once someone has actually sat down, opened the bags, and worked through it.
If you have just finished Audi RS Q e-tron, send over a few photos. It does not need to be a full studio setup. A clean table, a finished build, and a few notes on what stood out are enough.
