Car Transporter (42098)
One of our members tackled the Car Transporter and sent through photos. Three separate builds in one box: the transporter itself, plus two small cars that load and unload via the working hydraulic ramp. 2,493 pieces across the lot.
The upper deck tilts on a knob-driven mechanism so the cars sit level during transport. Both small cars are proper Technic models with suspension and steering – not placeholders. The cab opens, there’s sleeper cab detail inside, and the whole thing is one of the longer footprints in the library when fully extended.

A knob on the rear section drives the hydraulic ramp up and down. Wind it up, park the two cars on the upper deck, and the deck tilts back level so they sit flat. Wind it back down to unload. Both small cars roll on and off under their own wheels – they have working suspension.

The piece count is split three ways, which changes how the build feels. You finish one of the small cars, set it aside, build the other, then tackle the transporter. By the time the ramp mechanism goes together you’ve already got two cars ready to load onto it. Good pacing for the complexity level.
One thing worth knowing: the model is long. Check you have a decent run of table or shelf before you start – it needs the space when fully extended with both decks out.

This is exactly why I like putting member builds on the blog. The official images tell you what a kit is supposed to look like. Member photos show what it feels like once someone has actually sat down, opened the bags, and worked through it.
If you have just finished Car Transporter, send over a few photos. It does not need to be a full studio setup. A clean table, a finished build, and a few notes on what stood out are enough.
