Not a speedboat. A proper research ship.
One of our members built the Ocean Explorer (42064) and sent photos. This is a research vessel, not a racing boat. It sits differently in the hand compared to most Technic kits. The hull is a solid sub-assembly, unlike the open framework you get with cars and trucks, which makes the early stages of the build feel unusual in a good way.
1,327 pieces. Working crane on the rear deck for deploying and recovering equipment. Working winch. A propeller under the hull. The white and orange colour scheme stands out in the library.

Most Technic kits are built around an open framework. Cars, trucks, cranes – you can see the structure throughout. The Ocean Explorer builds a solid hull first, which is a different experience. The hull sub-assembly alone is worth building just to understand how LEGO handles a closed form. Add life rafts, radar equipment, a rear crane, a working winch, and a propeller, and you end up with something that feels complete in a way a lot of vehicle kits do not.
This is exactly why I like putting member builds on the blog. The official images tell you what a kit is supposed to look like. Member photos show what it feels like once someone has actually sat down, opened the bags, and worked through it.
If you have just finished Ocean Explorer, send over a few photos. It does not need to be a full studio setup. A clean table, a finished build, and a few notes on what stood out are enough.
