LEGO has published its end-of-year retiring list, and 22 Technic sets come off sale on 31 December 2026. Six of them are in the Brick Club library. Once they retire, the only way to build one is to find a copy second hand, and prices on retired Technic go one way.
This is the same situation as July, when the Daytona SP3 and the Zetros went. Nothing changes for members. The library copies stay in the library and keep rotating. But if one of these has been on your mental list, this is the point where “one day” becomes “this winter”.
2022 Ford GT (42154)
1,466 pieces, out since 2023, £104.99 at retail. The one to build if you like a gearbox you can feel. Working V6 with moving pistons, independent suspension on all four corners, opening doors, and a dark blue body with white racing stripes. A ten-hour build for most people. The retirement has surprised nobody, it has had a good run, but it is still one of the best mid-size Technic cars LEGO has made.
Volvo FMX Truck and EC230 Electric Excavator (42175)
2,274 pieces, 2024, £169.99. Two machines in one box. The FMX has a working crane and the EC230 excavator on the trailer has a fully articulating arm and a slewing superstructure. The pneumatics are the good V2 type. If you want a long session that ends with two things on the table, this is it.
Porsche GT4 e-Performance (42176)
834 pieces, 2024, £149.99. The odd one out: a Powered Up set that drives from the app, with a light brick in the nose. Smaller and quicker to build than the others here, and more fun afterwards. The first all-electric Porsche race car, at 1:8.

Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line (42177)
2,891 pieces, 2024, £219.99. The big off-roader. Straight-six engine, sprung suspension, and two differential locks you can engage from the cabin, which is the party trick. It is a long build with a lot of drivetrain before the body goes on, and it rewards the patience.
Ducati Panigale V4 S (42202)
1,603 pieces, 2025, £169.99. The best Technic motorcycle in the library. A V4 with moving pistons, front and rear suspension, chain drive and a display stand. It has only been out a year and a half, which is a short life for a set like this, so I would not wait on it.
Volvo EC500 Hybrid Excavator (42215)
2,359 pieces, 2025, £349.99. The most expensive set on this list and the one most people will never buy at retail, which is the whole point of the library. Full excavator functions, 360-degree rotation, 1:15 scale. Another 2025 release going early.
The Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 (42171) and the Volvo L120 wheel loader (42209) are also retiring. We have written about both and we do not stock either.
